Sunday, August 12th THANK YOU Greg and Melody for another successful Crescent Day! Here is their report:
Crescent Day 2007 was a success!
Many parents and kids participated. We nearly ran
out of shoebox boat supplies and the scene in the dining room during
construction was chaotic as the kids were given a strict 30 minute time limit
to complete their yachts.
Melody counted more than forty five kids on the
wall for the shoebox race!! We are calling this the "Modern Era" record for
attendance at a Crescent Day.
Does anyone know when Crescent Day was first
held? Also, has it always been sponsored by the Thistle Fleet?
The watermelon race was well attended, with 13
boats running the gauntlet of water-gun-toting junior instructors at the
finish line . Rothenbuler, Pytell, and Sgrazzutti took 1st, 2nd, and 3rd,
with Blachut pulling off the pickle boat award.
The kids all loved the lawn games as well as
running the gas blender to make smoothies. With more games to play, some kids
(and adults) were showing signs of fatigue, and we pulled the plug on the day
around 5pm.
Way to go event staff!!!
Many adults contributed their whole day in support
of the event and we thank them all very much for everything they did. It
would not be possible to pull this off without them. We're quite sure the
supply of beer and "Adult Pineapple Snack" helped keep their engines running.
Thanks again to all the kids, parents and event
staff!
